Presidential Candidate Info
So, before I forget, I want to share a site I found that lays it all out for you, by candidates, and by issues. ttp://www.ontheissues.org/default.htm
Like many moms, I have experience with politics on a smaller scale. The nursery school politics, the private school politics, the office politics, the community association politics - these are the ones that affect our daily lives. You can try to avoid them if you want, but it’s often better to get involved rather than let someone else make decisions for you and your family.
And, like the saying goes, “if you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.” To me this means that if you’re not going to care enough to get involved in the process of politics, then there is no room for you to complain.
For me, national politics are tougher to follow. It’s not that they affect my life any less, but, ironically, I sometimes find the media makes it hard to stay informed. My exposure to the candidates thus far has been through televised debates while flipping channels. I find that the exchanges, especially between Clinton and Obama, are often too theatrical to really gather any information. The personal attacks and rhetoric just get on my nerves.
Obviously, there is a lot on the internet. Too much. And it’s so hard to find unbiased information.
Which is why I love the above website so much. I care about this election. I know what issues are important to me - as a mom, as a homeowner, and as a Christian. The site makes it easy to get educated, and get involved in the politics of the bigger picture.
